7 Things To Do In Bourton-On-The-Water

Bourton-On-The-Water is host to a huge list of things to do on a regular basis, all year round! We’ve selected a handful of things we can recommend if you are visiting, or even if you’re local and fancy a day out! In no particular order, of course.

1: Visit The Model Village

Of course we have to include our amazing Model Village in the list of things to do! Another top attraction and must see in Bourton-On-The-Water. We are the only Model Village in the UK that represents its own home in 1/9th scale, and recognised in 2013 by English Heritage as qualifying for Grade II Listed status. We also offer free entry to the Model Village if you’re staying at The Old New Inn!

2: Visit Birdland

One of the most popular family attractions in The Cotswolds, is our neighbour, Birdland! Set across nine acres of gardens and woodland, you can see over 500 birds. From flamingos and pelicans to rare species such as the Waldrapp Ibis. Not only that, you can also meet England’s only breeding group of King Penguins and the comical African Penguins!

3: Go for amazing coffee

We are spoilt for choice here in Bourton for a good cup of coffee! Not only do we serve up delicious coffee in our bar & restaurant, the high street is also booming with great spots to sit and drink in, or grab a cup to go. Our neighbours on the corner at The Den serve up Stow’s very own Stow Coffee, alongside a host of delicious baked treats. At the other end of the High Street near the Motor Museum, you’ll find Bakery On The Water, a great family run artisan bakery. Head there early doors for a fresh coffee and some pastries or loaf for the weekend.

4: Visit The Motor Museum

Car enthusiast in the family? At the motor museum, you’ll be taken through the history of motoring throughout seven showrooms covering over 7500sq ft. A mixture of classic and vintage vehicles, with over 45 motorbikes, caravans, pedal cars, toys and thousands of items of memorabilia!

5: Feed The Ducks

The ducks are quite the attraction in the village throughout Spring and Summer, and even the Model Village once a year! When the weather’s right, you can sit by the water, relax and feed the ducks.

6: Eat incredible food

An array of food options await visitors to Bourton-On-The-Water, whether you’re a delicious lunch, an afternoon sweet treat, or a great evening dining experience, we’ve got it all. Treat the family to a cozy meal at The Croft, with several tasty menus available throughout the day. Have an amazing dinner out at The Rose Tree, or come and Visit The Old New Inn for our amazing Sunday roasts! If you’re looking for something slightly different, visit Smiths for outstanding burgers and cocktails.

7: Go for a walk

Here in Bourton, we are surrounded by amazing walks. With Greystone’s nature reserve around the corner from The Old New Inn, some amazing field walks behind Birdland and a fantastic route to The Slaughters just at the end of the village. You’re never short of places to explore if you want to get some steps in and soak up the scenery!
