Our Favourite Places To Visit In The Cotswolds

Bourton-On-The-Water is obviously one of the best places to visit when in The Cotswolds (in our opinion), however, if you’re staying at The Old New Inn, there are also lots of other amazing areas to explore whilst you’re here.

Here are a few of our top recommendations.

Broadway

Broadway Tower

Just a short drive from BOTW, you’ll find the stunning village of Broadway. Visit Broadway Tower at the top of Fish Hill, for some stunning views and scenery that certainly doesn’t disappoint. Nearby you’ll find the amazing Farncombe Estate, home to Dormy House, The Fish Hotel and more, a great place to stay in their iconic treehouses, or visit for some great food. You can also head into the village for a wander around some great independent shops as well as cosy restaurants, cafe’s and pub’s.

Stow-On-The-Wold

Stow-On-The-Wold

A stones throw from Bourton-On-The-Water is our neighbouring market town, Stow-On-The-Wold. Home to an array of great shops, restaurants, cafes, galleries and coffee shops to wander around. It’s also home to England’s oldest inn, The Porch House! A town thriving with History, yet full of modern and trendy places.

Daylesford

Daylesford Organic Farm Shop

This privately owned village sits just two miles east of Stow-On-The-Wold, and is mostly known for the Daylesford Organic Farm, home to one of the most amazing farm shops around. Within the grounds, you’ll find a homeware store, the Old Spot Restaurant and Legbar for drinking and dining, as well as cookery classes and workshops. And of course, the main farm shop that is brimming with fresh local produce.

Blenheim Palace

Blenheim Palace

Out west of The Cotswolds, in Woodstock, towards Oxford is Blenheim Palace. A must see country house that’s the only non-royal country house in England to hold the ‘Palace’ title. Hosting an array of events throughout the year, from concerts, to jousting tournaments, or you can visit to roam around the gardens and see some areas of the country house for yourself.

Burford

Burford is known to be one of the most picturesque towns in The Cotswolds, famous for a steep high street. Another great place to wander around, visiting shops, tearooms, historic pubs and their medieval church. You can also visit the amazing Burford Garden Centre.

Sudeley Castle

Located a few miles from BOTW is the historic Sudeley Castle, with history spanning over 1,000 years, grounds covering 1,200 acres and 10 gardens, it’s definitely worth a visit whilst in the area. A grade I listed castle in the parish of Sudeley, it hosts an array of events from garden fairs, to circus and classic car shows. And the annual spectacle of lights which takes place every Winter!

There are so many more places to explore throughout the Cotswolds, but this selection is a good starting point if you’re visiting the area.
