Dog Friendly Bourton And Beyond

Bourton-On-The-Water has been labelled one of the most dog friendly villages in the Cotswolds, which is really clear if you ever walk up the high street on a busy day, you’ll see plenty of dogs walking their owners around the centre. As we are a dog friendly bar and restaurant, we wanted to share with you our top dog friendly recommendations for places to go with pups in Bourton and beyond!

Dining with dogs

Of course, we couldn’t start this without mentioning the places you can dine with your four-legged pals in Bourton-On-The-Water. Here at The Old New Inn, our bar and restaurant are both dog friendly. We have a complimentary snack area where the goodest of dogs can enjoy a selection of treats. And we even have our own doggy menu, serving up treat pots, dog bowls and even dog drinks!

In the Summer months, be sure to go and visit Cotswold Ice Creams across the ford, and treat your pup to some doggy ice cream to cool them down.

Dog Friendly Attractions

Many of the popular attractions in Bourton-On-The-Water are actually dog friendly, making their day out loads more fun. Dogs are welcome over the road at Birdland, however they must be kept on a short lead. Got an explorer pup in the family? Why not head to the Dragonfly Maze, where they can lead you to find the exit. Please be sure to check their Facebook page for opening times as it is often weather dependent of course. If your dog’s a car fanatic, why not treat them to a wander around the Cotswold Motoring Museum, but bear in mind the museum can be quite busy over weekends, so it might be worth timing it right with the quieter periods.

Great Dog Walks

When it comes to dog walking around Bourton, you’re certainly not shy of options. With the village being surrounded by fields and pathways, you’re sure to find a great walk no matter what you’re looking for. You can start and end many walks from The Old New Inn and head in pretty much any direction to discover one.

We highly recommend Greystone Nature Reserve, which is a short walk from The Old New Inn. If you’re looking to stretch the legs a little further, you can take a route with Upper or Lower Slaughter starting and ending in Bourton. If your dog is one with a lot of energy, there are some fantastic views from Clapton-on-the-hill. And if you’re feeling really active, you can walk to Stow-on-the-would and back enjoying a fantastic circular route.

Doggy Sleepovers

Unfortunately, here at The Old New Inn, we don’t allow dogs in our hotel, however, there are lots of great dog friendly accommodation options throughout the village. Including a wide range of pet friendly self catering cottages from our friends over at The Lansdowne. Alternatively, check out the properties available through Stay Cotswold
